The Riffwars Hashtag system was created out of necessity when the original hastag, #Riffwars, had around 15,000 posts under it. Sifting through thousands of videos was time consuming and inefficient. We felt that many artists were being overlooked as each day brought hundreds of new posts. The development of the new hashtags allowed for separation by genre, style, bands, and even guitar brands.
Using the Riffwars Hashtag system is the best way to be seen not only by Riffwars, but also by other artists with similar tastes and styles. Please use the Riffwars Hashtag system to increase your chances of being discovered and featured on @RIFFWARS. #Riffwars gets hundreds of posts a day-don't bury your video under #Riffwars!
Here are some tips for using the Riffwars Hashtags:
Use only the hashtags that apply to your post. Using hashtags incorrectly or in excess on one post will likely lead to you NOT being featured.
Check to be sure your spelling is correct.
In example, #riffwarjazz ≠ #riffwarsjazz, the "s" is missing in riffwars. Posts tagged under incorrectly spelled hashtags are unlikely to be seen or featured on @RIFFWARS.
Now that instagram organizes videos under hashtags by date, making NEW videos is important. Tagging an old video with a new hashtag will still result in the video being buried beneath other videos. Always try and tag your videos right away.
